I currently work at Crytek's US-based studio, RealTime Immersive, otherwise known as the "seventh secret studo" where I am currently a character artist and a CryEngine3 instructor.
For the last 10 + years, I've been a freelance 3d artist, modeling, texturing, and even animating. For the past several years, I've been an instructor, teaching many aspects of 2D and 3D CG arts. Most recently, I have been teaching the art pipeline for the CryEngine 3 to CE3 liscensees. 4 of my 5 years teaching at IADT were in the game design department which is where I developed a real passion for making game art assets and especially for game characters.
When a friend started a game company, called Dead Man Games, and asked me in 2008 to head up the art for their first game, 'Bot Blast, I jumped at the chance. I put together a team of top IADT students and we entered into pre-production. Unfortunately, Dead Man Games didn't last. The company was dissolved, and 'Bot Blast was cancelled.
Without published titles, I knew it would be difficult to break back into the industry. I wanted to demonstrate my seriousness and get more experience, while creating a stronger portfolio, so I decided to pursue a Master's degree in Interactive Entertainment through UCF's FIEA program, where you spend more time making games than in the classroom. While there, I worked on several 2D and 3D games at FIEA including five 2-week rapid prototypes, and a 6-month capstone projects, 9 Lives 'Til Midnight. Additionally, I made a boss character, Maphisto, for a 2nd capstone project, Shadows of Abigail.
When I manage to have some free time, I enjoy playing games, doing tutorials, playing with my 2 loveable schnauzers, reading, rollerblading, swimming, skiing, and relaxing at the beach.
